Paula McKinnel Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – Wound Care, Capital and Coast DHB Paula’s registered nursing experience spans over 22 years, with her wound care journey commencing in 1997 whilst working on a busy plastic surgical ward in London. She started her career as a clinical nurse specialist – tissue viability in London in 2002 and returned to New Zealand in 2004 to MidCentral DHB as the CNS- Wound Care. She has moved around a little since then to settle at Capital & Coast DHB. She completed a BSc (Hons) in Tissue Viability in the UK and Masters in Nursing on return to NZ. A big part of her role is to deliver education for patients and health care professionals with evidenced based practice and she believes this is fundamental to patient health outcomes. Her wound care role continues outside work with her two busy young children, with lots of plasters and cuddles. Pamela Mitchell Clinical Nurse Consultant Wound Management I currently hold the post of the Clinical Nurse Consultant for Wound Management at Christchurch Hospital, a role held for the past 12 years. My work history includes a long association with the Plastic Surgery Units at Burwood, Middlemore, and Christchurch Hospitals in New Zealand and Plastic and Craniofacial Unit in Oxford (England).
