The DAA Group June Day-Stay and Rooms/Office Based seminars are designed to help practice managers, nurses, doctors and others who are involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement activity, become more familiar with the standards and quality management systems.
Come join us: these are half day sessions commencing with registration at 8.30am and finishing at approximately 1.00pm. All providers are welcome. DAA Group clients will receive a discounted price.
Participation numbers will be limited to ensure those attending have the opportunity to fully explore issues specific to their needs in a friendly and supportive environment.
Expert speakers will provide information on topics of interest related to:
Quality – information systems, policies and procedures, incident management, complaints, satisfaction surveys, CAR management
Introduction to risk management – the difference between risk and health and safety and how risks link to quality
Preparing for audit – difference between certification and surveillance; why these are required. Achieving continuous quality improvements, and how to easily manage required improvements.
Key note speakers
We are privileged to welcome Cathy Cummings as the key presenter. Cathy is a Co-Director of The DAA Group. Cathy has wide and in-depth experience in health and disability services, having worked in the health sector as a registered nurse in New Zealand, Australia and in the United Kingdom.
Cathy has extensive auditing and quality management experience in most sectors of health. She has managed a quality auditing and accreditation agency for more than twenty years and has in-depth expertise in certification, accreditation, contracts and issues-based auditing. Cathy is acknowledged as being fair and non-threatening in her audit approach.
Cathy is also a member of the Australian Council for Healthcare (ACHS) Standards committee and is an international surveyor for ISQua – the organisation that accredits the accreditor.
Chris is a registered nurse with 38 years’ experience in the health sector and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing. Chris is a DAA Group Client Manager based in Christchurch. Prior to this role Chris was a Service Development Manager with the Canterbury DHB, involved in many service improvement programs across primary and secondary care. Previously Chris worked for a Private Surgical Hospital (2001 – 2013) where she had a varied role, including being responsible for clinical IT development, contract management, Trendcare, business analysis and maintained a clinical role as Clinical Coordinator on a fortnightly basis.
Chris’s background was varied, working in Older Persons Health as a manager and at charge nurse level both in ATR and in aged residential care facility. Chris is a qualified Continence Nurse Advisor who worked in her own private practice and previously had set up the Nurse Maude Continence Advisory Service. Other main areas of experience are urology, surgical and district nursing.
Marushka is a Client Manager at the DAA Group office in Wellington. She previously worked for Capital and Coast District Health Board in the position of a Nurse Lecturer from 2006 to 2010. In this capacity she also organised and delivered post graduate nursing papers in Critical Care for Victoria University. Prior to this she was employed as a nurse educator and specialist from 2003 to 2010 where she developed her skills and experience in quality management and nursing development. Marushka has 22 years’ experience in nursing and education in New Zealand and overseas.
Marushka trained as a comprehensive nurse and holds a current nursing practising certificate. She has a Master of Nursing through Victoria University and maintains an interest in critical care nursing, education and quality. She is a qualified health sector lead auditor and EQuIP surveyor.
